Student ArtworkSupport Program

Support at Forest Crescent involves the coordination and provision of programs for the diverse group of students at educational risk. This group not only includes children experiencing learning difficulties but also those who require extension to realise their potential. Allocation of support is on the basis of need with support teachers working closely with class teachers on varied support models. Continuous monitoring of students in all classes ensures that children are only given support for the time that it is needed. For example one student may only need small group work for a Term whilst other may need it for the Semester or year.

In most classes, the class teacher will provide suitable programs in the areas of spelling and comprehension. The SAR staff will support the development of comprehension by working in collaboration with class teachers either by taking small withdrawal groups or working with children in classrooms.

Support in the Year's 2,3 and 7 involves Morphographic spelling. These programs comence early Term 1 and continue throughout the Year.

All Pre-Primary students are tested in Term 1 using "Time for Talk". Phase 1 students are considered to be at risk and receive focussed intervention in oral language aquisition. Students at risk are retested at the end of the year, and if still considered ar risk are placed in the Year 1 program the following year.
